today i learned
that fish don't grow
larger than the size
of their bowl.
this is just in case
they were born in a puddle
i was told.
could you imagine
living your whole life
in a puddle?
i can.
we're not so
different really
from those fish.
stunted and trapped
in our own
murky little puddles.
swimming in circles
trying vainly to find a way
to the ocean.
